Here are 10 Celebrities with Mexican Roots.



Many aspects of American culture, be they related to food, arts, or celebrations, have sprung from Mexican roots.

As it turns out, a lot of celebrities have too.

Here are 10 of them.

Number 10. Fergie. The Black Eyed Pea's great grandmother on her father's side is from Guanajuato. According to the singer, that's where her fire comes from.

Number 9. Nicole Richie. Lionel Richie's been her dad since she was 3, but the fashion designer's biological father is of Mexican descent. At birth, she was known as Nicole Camille Escovedo.

Number 8. Jessica Alba. The Mexican roots of the actresses' family tree spread back a couple of generations, but they do reach there. Her father and his parents were born in California, but his ancestry is Mexican-American.

Number 7. Louis C.K. The celebrated comedian wasn't born in Mexico, but did spend his younger days in the country, as that's where his father was born and that side of his family lives. Even though he returned to the US, he retained his Mexican citizenship.

Number 6. Uma Thurman. Her mother was born in Mexico city in 1941.

Number 5. Taboo. Fergie isn't the only Black Eyed Pea who is of Mexican stock. Taboo's real name is Jaime Luis Gomez, and his father is from Morelia.

Number 4. Kat Von D. Born in Nuevo León, Mexico, the reality star moved to Colton, California when she was 4. Her parents are from Argentina and of Italian, Spanish, and German descent.

Number 3. Lynda Carter. The former Wonder Woman and current Arizona resident is half Mexican and speaks Spanish.

Number 2. Alexis Bledel. Many will always remember her as Rory Gilmore, the descendent of uptight, blue blood Easterners, but sees herself as a Latina. She was born in Texas to a Mexican mother and an Argentine father. Spanish is her first language.

Number 1. Mitt Romney. His great grandfather fled to Mexico in 1885 in an attempt to dodge US anti-polygamy laws. Romney's grandfather grew up there and his father was born there, but both returned to the US when the Mexican Revolution started to heat up. Romney however, does not consider himself Mexican-American.
