Underwater Hockey

Given the hard hits and frequent fights so common in ice hockey, it's difficult to believe that anyone could imagine a more potentially hazardous version of the sport. But with the added element of a potential drowning, underwater hockey makes frozen-water hockey look like child's play.

The rules of liquid-water hockey are similar to that of it solid-state counterpart. The difference: Players use wooden or plastic sticks about the size of a banana to push around a metal puck around the floor of a pool.

The action is especially exciting for spectators, who can only really see ripples on the surface from the action below.

Bladefish Underwater Scooter

Mont Saint-Michel

Le Mont-Saint-Michel (pronounced: [lə mɔ̃ sɛ̃ mi.ʃɛl]; English: Saint Michael's Mount) is an island commune in Normandy, France. It is located about one kilometre (0.6 miles) off the country's northwestern coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. 100 hectares (247 acres) in size, the island has a population of 44 (2009).

The island has held strategic fortifications since ancient times and since the 8th century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. The structural composition of the town exemplifies the feudal society that constructed it: on top, God, the abbey and monastery; below, the great halls; then stores and housing; and at the bottom, outside the walls, houses for fishermen and farmers.

Its unique position — on an island just 600 metres from land — made it accessible at low tide to the many pilgrims to its abbey, but defensible as an incoming tide stranded, drove off, or drowned would-be assailants. The Mont remained unconquered during the Hundred Years' War; a small garrison fended off a full attack by the English in 1433.The reverse benefits of its natural defence were not lost on Louis XI, who turned the Mont into a prison. Thereafter the abbey began to be used more regularly as a jail during the Ancien Régime.

One of France's most recognizable landmarks, Mont Saint-Michel and its bay are part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and more than 3 million people visit it each year.

Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye - Steam

"Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" is a song written and recorded by Paul Leka, Gary DeCarlo and Dale Frashuer, attributed to a then-fictitious band they named "Steam". It was released under the Mercury subsidiary label Fontana and became a number one pop single on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1969, and remained on the charts in early 1970.

The song's chorus remains well-known, and is frequently used as a crowd chant at many sporting events generally directed at the losing side in an elimination contest when the outcome is all but certain.

Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye

He'll never love you, the way that I love you
'Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love
(My love, my love)

So dog-gone willin', so kiss him
(I wanna see you kiss him, wanna see you kiss him)
Go on and kiss him goodbye, now

Na na na na, hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye

Listen to me now

He's never near you to comfort and cheer you
When all those sad tears are fallin' baby from your eyes
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love
(My love, my love)

So dog-gone willin', so kiss him
(I wanna see you kiss him, I wanna see you kiss him)
Go on and kiss him goodbye, na na na na, na na na

Na na na na, hey hey, goodbye

Hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye

Hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye

Hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye

African Villages To Give People Hope

From the 13th of May to the 31st of October last year, Cape Town graffiti artist Falko painted his way across South Africa. His mission? To change the locals’ perception of value. The project, called “Once Upon A Town,” was photographed by Luke Daniel.

“Add a little paint and it’s not just a scruffy shack any more,” Falko told the Red Bull crew. “It’s a shack with artwork on it, part of a huge open-air art gallery. It changes everyone’s perception.”

Falko has been on the graffiti scene since 1988, when he painted his first wall at Westridge High School in Mitchell’s Plain, and is “regarded as an integral part of the foundation and development of South Africa’s graffiti scene.” As to why he chose elephants as his trademark? Falko hasn’t given a clear answer, but maybe you can find some clues by checking out some of his art!
