Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison

"Pretty Woman" is a song, released in August 1964, which was a worldwide success for Roy Orbison. Recorded on the Monument Records label in Nashville, Tennessee, it was written by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees. The song spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Billboard ranked the record as the No. 4 song of 1964."Pretty Woman" was also Orbison's third single to top the UK Singles Chart chart (for a total of three weeks). The previous Orbison singles to reach No.1 in the UK were "Only the Lonely" in 1960 and "It's Over" earlier in 1964.

There were three guitar players on the session, Billy Sanford, Jerry Kennedy and Wayne Moss. Billy Sanford, who later played session for Elvis and Don Williams and many others, played the intro guitar. Williams introduced him as a kid who had just arrived Nashville, with a borrowed guitar, who heard Orbison was minus a guitar player, who went over and got the gig. Other musicians on the record included Floyd Cramer on piano, Bob Moore on an upright bass, Boots Randolph and Charlie McCoy on sax, and Buddy Harman and Paul Garrison on drums. Orbison also played a 12 string epiphone.

The record sold seven million copies and marked the high point in Orbison's career.Within months of its release, in October 1964, the single was awarded a gold record by RIAA.

Orbison posthumously won the 1991 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his live recording of the song on his HBO television special Roy Orbison and Friends, A Black and White Night.

In 1999, the song was honored with a Grammy Hall of Fame Award and was named one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it #222 on their list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time," and in 2012, Texas Music magazine ranked the song No. 7 on its list of "The Top 50 Classic Texas Songs."

Pretty Woman

Pretty woman, walking down the street
Pretty woman, the kind I like to meet
Pretty woman, I don't believe you, you're not the truth
No one could look as good as you, mercy

Pretty woman, won't you pardon me?
Pretty woman, I couldn't help but see
Pretty woman, you look lovely as can be
Are you lonely just like me?

Pretty woman, stop awhile
Pretty woman, talk awhile
Pretty woman, give your smile to me

Pretty woman, yeah, yeah, yeah
Pretty woman, look my way
Pretty woman, say you'll stay with me

'Cause I need you, I'll treat you right
Come to me, baby, be mine tonight

Pretty woman, don't walk on by
Pretty woman, don't make me cry
Pretty woman, don't walk away, hey, okay
If that's the way it must be, okay

I guess I'll go on home, it's late
There'll be tomorrow night, but wait
What do I see?

Is she walking back to me
Yeah, she's walking back to me
Oh, oh, pretty woman

Pretty woman, don't walk on by
Pretty woman, don't make me cry
Pretty woman, don't walk away, hey, okay

SnowCastle of Kemi

The SnowCastle of Kemi is the biggest snow fort in the world. It is rebuilt every winter with a different architecture in Kemi, Finland.[1] In 1996 the first snow castle drew 300,000 visitors.

The area covered by the castle has varied from 13,000 to over 20,000 square metres. The highest towers have been over 20 metres high and longest walls over 1,000 metres long, and the castle has had up to three storeys. Despite its varying configurations, the snow castle has a few recurring elements: a chapel, a restaurant and a hotel.

The SnowRestaurant has ice tables and seats covered with reindeer fur, as well as ice sculptures.

The ecumenical SnowChapel with 50–100 seats has seen numerous weddings of couples from as far away as Japan and Hong Kong.

The SnowHotel[1] offers a choice of double rooms and a honeymoon suite, all of which are decorated by local artists using local materials.

The SnowCastle of Kemi also hosts such things as an adventure land for children, a theatre and ice art exhibitions with lights and sound effects. Many opera singers and dancers have performed in the SnowCastle of Kemi.

12 Homes for People Who Never Want Visitors

Sometimes, solitude is an absolute delight. It’s okay to be social and friendly most of the time, but now and then you just want to have some time to yourself. And let’s not even get started on the whole concept of people dropping by your house unexpectedly when all you want to do is lounge around on the sofa with your pants off, which we’re pretty sure is the dream of any man in the world.

12. This House in Iceland

This house is literally the only structure on this small island in Iceland, so if loneliness is your friend this is the place for you.

11. This House in Sweden

This single house is on a small island in Stockholm, and you can rest assured that the view is never going to be obscured by a fat neighbor going for an all-over tan.

10.The Katskhi Pillar

There’s only one monk who lives in this tiny church in Georgia (the country, not the state), and we’re guessing it’s because no one else can figure out how the hell to get up there.

9.This House on the St. Lawrence River

On the one hand, lawn maintenance is easy. On the other hand, a heavy rain comes along and you’re sleeping in a waterbed whether you want to or not.

8.This House in the Swiss Alps

Located on the face of the Matterhorn, this lodge is located more than 4,000 meters up, so yeah, we’re thinking the mailman needs a giant Christmas bonus.

7.The Hermitage in Italy

The word “Hermit” is right there in the name, so yeah, we’re thinking this beautiful but secluded church is aptly named.

6.This Greek Monastery

This Greek monastery is difficult to reach, as it sits roughly 1,300 feet above sea level. The monks have got to be in fantastic shape from all that climbing, right?

5.This French House

Well, we guess this homeowner is caught between a rock and...well, another rock.

4.This Church in Slovenia

Look, it’s absolutely gorgeous, but the question is really: how on earth do they have anything resembling an actual congregation?

3. This Small Hut in Iceland

We’re starting to sense that the people of Iceland really, really hate having people stop by to borrow cups of sugar.

2. This Tiny Dwelling in Norway

Which is worse here, the sense of claustrophobia when you’re inside, or the sense your small house is about to fall down the mountain when you look out the window?

1.This Stone House in Portugal

Honestly this house looks like the equivalent of plugging your fingers in your ears and saying “la-la-la, I’m not listening!” whenever neighbors come knocking.

19 People Having A Worse Day At Work Than You

If you're at work right now, you're probably pretty miserable. But at least you're not failing at the day as badly as these people.

School's Out - Alice Cooper

"School's Out", also known as "School's Out for Summer" is a 1972 title track single released on Alice Cooper's fifth album.

Cooper has said he was inspired to write the song when answering the question, "What's the greatest three minutes of your life?". Cooper said: "There's two times during the year. One is Christmas morning, when you're just getting ready to open the presents. The greed factor is right there. The next one is the last three minutes of the last day of school when you're sitting there and it's like a slow fuse burning. I said, 'If we can catch that three minutes in a song, it's going to be so big.'"

Cooper has also said it was inspired by a line from a Bowery Boys movie. On his radio show, "Nights with Alice Cooper", he joked that the main riff of the song was inspired by a song by Miles Davis.Cooper admitted that guitarist Glen Buxton, was the one who created the song's opening riff.

The lyrics of "School's Out" indicate that not only is the school year ended for summer vacation, but ended forever, and that the school itself has been blown up. It incorporates the childhood rhyme, "No more pencils, no more books, no more teachers' dirty looks" into its lyrics. It also featured children contributing some of the vocals. "Innocence" in the lyric "...and we got no innocence" is frequently changed in concert to "intelligence" and sometimes replaced with "etiquette."

"School's Out" became Alice Cooper's first major hit single, reaching #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart and propelling the album to #2 on the Billboard 200 pop albums chart. Billboard ranked it as the No. 75 song for 1972.In Canada, the single went to #3 on the RPM Top Singles Chart following the album reaching #1.In Britain, the song went to #1 on the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in August 1972. It also marked the first time that Alice Cooper became regarded as more than just a theatrical novelty act.

The single version of the song is a slightly sped-up mix of the album version with one major difference—the "turn-off" effect used upon the school bell and sound effects at the end of the album version is not used on the single version, allowing the school bell and effects to simply fade out.

Some radio stations banned the song from their airwaves, stating that the song gave the students a negative impression of rebelliousness against childhood education. Teachers, parents, principles, counselors, and psychologists also shunned that song and demanded several radio stations to ban the song from ever being played on the air.

In 2004, "School's Out" was ranked #319 on Rolling Stone 's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In 2009 it was named the 35th best hard rock song of all time by VH1 and the song appeared on the TV show American Idol in 2010.

Later performances saw Alice Cooper incorporate parts of the first verse in "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2", a song by Pink Floyd (also about school, and produced by Bob Ezrin) into "School's Out."

School's Out Lyrics

Well we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin' all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Well we can't salute ya can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya that's a drag
School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils no more books
No more teacher's dirty looks yeah
Well we got no class
And we got no principals
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes
School's out for summer
School's out forever
My school's been blown to pieces

No more pencils no more books
No more teacher's dirty looks
Out for summer
Out till fall
We might not come back at all
School's out forever
School's out for summer
School's out with fever
School's out completely

5 Most Unusual Online Services on the Internet

Modern technology allows us to get opportunities, which a few years ago we did not even dare to dream. On the Internet you can find a huge variety of online services to suit every taste and color. Today we tell about the 5 most unusual of them.

Nukemap – virtual nuclear button, which will destroy any city

Nukemap – an online service that will allow you to see firsthand what will happen when the war begins between atomic states. With it, you can own hands to destroy any city in the world and even admire, like a mushroom cloud will demolish the face of the earth hated your school or work.

Nukemap – is the brainchild of scientist Alex Vellershteyna. A historian by training, he works at the American Institute of Physics, and is interested in nuclear weapons. For many years he studied the old government reports on possible consequences of the use of atomic bombs. In the course of these studies, he began to apply the relevant mathematical equations with respect to the maps from Google Maps. And there was a project Nukemap.

Nukemap – is a special plugin for Google Earth, which allows a three-dimensional mode to see a nuclear explosion at any desired location. The user can even specify a specific point on the streets of New York or any other city, where he will enjoy it. After the explosion, the service calculates and its consequences – the radius of destruction, the level of radioactive particles remaining in place, the number of casualties and destruction.

At the same time Alex Vellershteyn claims that all the data that he used when creating Nukemap, are shared.

Omnipresenz – travel in style outsourcing

Service called Omnipresenz allows us to travel the world, get new experience and knowledge, to attend important events, seminars, lectures and other activities without leaving at the same time because of the computer desk.

This service allows people with disabilities in movement or time to be active, full life in different parts of the world. Indeed, it often happens that we have various reasons to choose between several important activities in which we would like to participate.Omnipresenz gives us the opportunity to visit each of them.

Omnipresenz – is available with a computer network that allows a person to delegate their desires to others. Suffice it to find the right spot member of the service, and he will visit with the camera on his head right event, visit the place where you would like to visit, talk on your behalf with specific people. You will be able to guide his actions remotely via your computer.

The implementation of their desires through the online service user Omnipresenz cost ten times cheaper than a personal presence on the spot. After all, this network allows us to find, for example, residents or city people who are already going to go to a specific event, such as an exhibition at Comic-Con in San Diego or university lectures at Harvard.

Club house astronomers from Google Maps

Online service Google Maps before giving us the opportunity to study the geography of the Earth – considered the planet’s surface with a very detailed satellite imagery, walking through the streets of the cities due to Google Street View, visit the world’s largest museums in the Google Art Project. A new service from Google Maps also allows us to closely look at the sky .

And earlier in Google Maps has been built a good model of the sky, but now you can also study in detail the two closest to the Earth cosmic object – the Moon and Mars. If you fly over the surface of these objects on an orbital satellite.

The new service from Google Maps allows a good look at all the features of the lunar and Martian terrain – craters, mountains and even some large objects.

This feature was launched by Google in honor of the 45th anniversary of the mission of the spacecraft Apollo 11, the crew of which, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin became the first humans to visit on the lunar surface.

Social network Hyperlocal – the exchange of goods between neighbors

Online service Hyperlocal – is a cross between social networking, online shopping, rural markets and garage sales. This site was created for people who live in the same neighborhood, and who have something to offer each other.

Hyperlocal allows neighbors to share with each other the products of their activities, whether fruits and vegetables grown on the plot, either by hand knitted socks and gloves. If you have anything that can be useful and interesting neighbors, you can register Hyperlocal and talk about his proposal. Product information, including photos and a brief description here will appear on the map, available through the mobile application or desktop website.

Hyperlocal service will allow buyers and producers of goods and services to opt out of such a thing as a “store”, because they will be in contact with each other directly. Moreover, these products will certainly much tastier and better than similar offerings from the store. Hyperlocal creators believe that people will not deceive neighbors, trying to shove them defective or damaged goods.

Hyperlocal – it is also a means of deep integration of the residents of the area. After all, in today’s world, people can live for decades in the neighborhood, not knowing the names of those who live in the house across the street. And this service will allow neighbors to get acquainted through the process of selling and buying goods.

The Japanese, the charter for the day at work, knock on public transport on the way home, turn on the TV could come down, watching the fish swim slowly at one end of the tank to the other.

But technology does not stand still. And in our time there was an Internet site, where you can also watch live aquarium life. But, unlike the Japanese prototype, Aquardio – an interactive service.

Aquardio created a very busy programmer who is very sorry that due to busy at work can not spend much time with their fish. As a result, he decided to install next to them three cameras that will live watch these pets. Moreover, the author Aquardio implement a system remote control your aquarium.

Now he can feed your fish, they turn on and off the light and change the supply air temperature of the water, while being anywhere in the world. Can do well and strangers who register on the site and Aquardio get temporary access to the management of this interactive aquarium.

10 Fascinating Facts About Cuba

Here are 10 fascinating facts about Cuba.

With relations between the US and Cuba on the mend, it’s a great time to learn more about the nearby island nation.

Number 10. Russian cars rule the roads. The most popular one is the Lada, a vehicle made during the Soviet era and driven to this day. They’re used as cabs, police vehicles, ambulances, and for personal transportation.

Number 9. It’s largely an advertising-free zone. No billboards, no commercials, nobody shoving pamphlets at passersby. Much of that is a result of most goods being government controlled and a lack of funds to purchase those that aren’t.

Number 8. Sex-change operations are 0 dollars. That’s right – free. They’ve been legally permitted since 2007 and are among the medical procedures included in the nation’s universal healthcare system.

Number 7. Guantanamo Bay is a rental. The US pays Cuba about 4 thousand dollars a month for the use of the detention facility. Cuba stopped accepting the payments in 1959, but America isn’t technically squatting as breaking the lease requires the consent of both parties.

Number 6. Cuba has one of the world’s highest literacy rates. It’s at a very impressive 99.8 percent.

Number 5. There’s no Coca-Cola there. Due to trade embargos, none of the nearly 2 billion servings of the drink sold daily are legally dispensed in Cuba. North Korea is the only other country on the planet where the product isn’t available.

Number 4. Cuba’s got a lot of doctors, and they share them. Thanks to its highly regarded and financially accessible medical schooling, the small nation has a large number of qualified health professionals. In recent times 165 of them were been dispatched to aid in tackling the Ebola crisis.

Number 3. The right to hitchhike is protected by law. In fact, it’s encouraged. Given the low vehicle to population ratio, drivers with certain license plates are required to stop and pick up people needing rides.

Number 2. John Lennon is big in Cuba. Fidel Castro is a fan, so not only did he name a park after the late musician, he commissioned a statue of him. The former leader’s fondness came to him later in life, though, as Beatles music was banned in Cuba throughout the 60s and 70s. The park and the bronze didn’t show up until 2000.

Number 1. Cuba is brimming with baseball talent. The Cuban team won the first two Olympic medals offered for the sport, and many celebrated players for US ball clubs hail from there.

Meet Batman Bin Suparman.
Aparently this young man from Singapore was blessed in 1990 with
being named after two superheroes: Batman and Superman.
"Bin" means "son of", so his name is really "Batman son of Superman", which is even funnier... --thanks Eyal!

Best US Passport ever.
The hawaiian flower necklace, a set of pincers as beard, the facial expression... priceless.
